Reverend Ann Gray Byrd: Glimpses
In my previous post I mentioned that Reverend Ann Gray Byrd spent a wonderful evening at our shul on January 25. She shared personal stories of what it meant to grow up as an African-American in Sonoma County. She went beyond personal and did extended research on the topic, the history of the local African-American community. She collected the results of her research and compiled a book from it titled, Glimpses: Santa Rosa African Americans: Eyewitnessed, Remembered and Lived. The library has two copies of this wonderful, 100+ page large format book containing documents with commentaries. One of the copies is for borrowing and the other one is for sale, for $25. These are the last copies of the book’s second print, done in 2005. (The first print is from 2003.) This might be your last chance to own this important historic document
