The Twos teachers are Caroline, Robyn, and Anne.
Caroline Calvert has worked at BACNS since 1991. She has an AA in Child Development and 43+ units of ongoing ECE. She enjoys taking classes every year, especially finding new classes and topics in the ECE area that she has not already explored. Caroline has also received her State Child Development Permit and State Site Supervisor Permit, and she is trained and certified as a Quality Improvement Validator and Consultant.
Prior to working at BACNS, Caroline worked as a sub in her daughter's Fours class and did childcare for older preschoolers. She was initially hesitant about the Twos, but immediately fell in love with that age group. "What they say is so real, honest and pure." She points to the low ratios as critical to making the Twos class at BACNS so successful and fun.
Robyn Fisher-Tachouet worked as a substitute at BACNS beginning in 2002, and became one of the Twos teachers in 2004. She has a BA in Sociology from SSU with a minor in Women's Studies. Over the years, she has supplemented her degree with many early childhood units from the JC, and she is trained and certified as a Quality Improvement Validator and Consultant. Before she worked at Beth Ami, Robyn was the Head Teacher/Director of Gan Israel Preschool in Petaluma for 10 years. Robyn says "It's been fun to be a part of such a stellar team with Caroline and Anne."
Robyn enjoys the uniqueness of BACNS, with its low teacher-child ratios, the nuturing staff, the incredible parents, and the support from the Parents Committee. For the last twelve years Robyn has been on the Mentor Teachers Committee through the Junior College. Part of this job is to go out and evaluate other centers and their teachers, which have enabled Robyn to say with authority "there is no comparison."
Anne Varco joined BACNS at the same time as Caroline, in 1991. She has a BA in Child Psychology from the University of Minnesota, and she has also earned a Nursery School Certification and an MA in Early Childhood Education. In addition to her work at BACNS, Anne currently teaches Child Development at SRJC, and she is trained and certified as a Quality Improvement Validator and Consultant.
Anne has worked with children and families throughout her professional life. A few of Anne's notable past work experiences include: in-home Parent Educator through CPI, teacher and sometimes director at various nursery schools and after-school programs, consultant to municipalities on education programs and environments, and teacher at the University of Minnesota. Anne was also part of a team that developed an Early Intervention Program of play-based family therapy. For Anne, the children and their families are the highlight. She treasures the individual time she has with the kids getting to know them and the opportunity to meet and interact with the families.
