Nursery School

Dressing up for PurimThe Beth Ami Community Nursery School is located on the Congregation Beth Ami campus in Santa Rosa. Our nursery school is committed to quality Early Childhood Education. We believe each child is unique and approaches learning in a variety of ways. We strive to present a program that teaches the whole child — socially, physically, emotionally, intellectually, and spiritually. The program stresses universal Jewish values with an emphasis on care for the community and our environment. We celebrate the Jewish religion and culture through joyous holiday festivities and by celebrating the end-of-the week Shabbat through music, dance, stories, art, play, cooking and baking challah — all in a developmentally appropriate way. Our curriculum is inspired by the Reggio Emilia method embraced by Jewish educators for its child centered philosophy, and for it parallels to Jewish values.

  • We have four self-contained classroom programs, taught by teams of two teachers: A Two Year Old class; a Three Year Old class; a Three/Four Year Old class, and a Four Year Old class.
  • Our child to teacher ratios are a low 1 to 4 in Two’s up to 1 to 8 in the Four’s.
  • SRJCCNS teachers are highly experienced and educated, many have advanced degrees in education or related Early Childhood fields. On average, they have taught at our school for ten years.
  • We offer before school and after school Extended Day Care from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Rabbi Schlesinger sings with Nursery School children
  • We provide after school Enrichment Classes for three and four year olds in Gymnastics, Pottery, Kinder Music, and Yoga.
  • We are a California State Licensed Facility and conform to California State childcare facility standards and reporting requirements.
  • We are recipients of a First Five Kindergarten Readiness Grant for Early Literacy.
  • We have also been awarded through a Gold Foundation Grant to Parent’s Place, an Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant who attends our program weekly to provide consultation for teachers, parents and children.
  • Parent Education Workshops are provided and lead by our ECMH consultant.
